The tutorials are split into various modules, each containing several individual pages. You can start at the beginning and work your way through, or just jump to whatever you need to know. I recommend working your way through in the order shown though. Especially if you are new to html. Links to all the pages in the current chapter are on the right hand side of the screen, so you can move through all the pages in turn. Any demonstrations will open in separate windows to help you keep your place. :: The BasicsFor those of you that have never tried HTML before - these guides will explain how the language works, and get you up and running on the basic workings of a simple page including formatting techniques. :: LinksLinks are everywhere on the web, so you'll need to know how to create them. Learn how to link within your site, to specific points on a page and to separate sites altogether - easy when you know how! :: ImagesA picture is worth a thousand words. SO how do you go about putting one or more on your HTML page? :: TablesYou'd be surprised how much you use tables in HTML - this page uses lots of them just to keep the text layout the way I intended. You can also use them for data. :: ListsLists are very easy, they hardly need a section to themselves. It's just that they don't really fit in anywhere else. :: FramesFrames let you split your page into two or more separate documents, which makes site management much simpler. Use them wisely and you (and your visitors) won't know how you lived without them! Warning: Use them badly and you will have a nightmare experience for your visitors. :: FormsForms let your site visitors send information back to you via the web. They are primarily used for mail forms (to e-mail you comments on your site) although you can use forms for navigation and search too. :: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)CSS is a system that allows you to control the look of your site from
a single file, making redesigns simple. This entire site uses a few styles
to keep it all looking the same. |
